SixFans is an exploration of the use of generative processes
to create a work of musical, physical and visual output.
Fans mounted in boxes control the rolling of metal balls in
the pipes interconnecting each node. If a node is hit a
note in a presently generated composition plays. ( project website ) |

A pulse of video travels a grid of 16 cells.
Each cell contains one simple rule: if it receives a pulse,
it will send it to one of it's adjacent neighbors.
This pattern and the information gathered from it are used
to make note, timing, duration and sequence choices, as well as video effects.
The result is a newly generated video/music piece.
Each iteration generates the same piece but with emergent variation.

An interactive musical sculpture. Three suspended fan-driven pendulums swing
based on user hand motion. Utilizing light, sound, motion and user interaction,
Three Fans is cross between an instrument, a composition and a kinetic sculpture.

Generative video and music piece: a projected software-based cellular automaton environment,
resembling a fish-tank. The "beings" are pulses that must "eat" and "breath" to survive.
If the pulses do not find a way to the "food" and "air" that are provided in the
environment, they perish. Their struggles are the basis for this visual musical
composition. The length and activity of the composition depends on the life-span of these pulses.

The second Aquarium project pulls the "life" pulse out of the computer screen and
into the three dimensional world. Similar rules apply, but in physical form rather than
contained in a video. The sculpture is made up of 112 translucent, lit boxes.
This project is currently in prototype stage.

A short animated film with original sound track. A dream of the city at night;
rain and buildings, dancing women, naked bodies,
a running cat and a spinning virus in the sky...

A short musical flash animation.
I walked for days.
My feet began to ache.
I could have gotten there much quicker
if I had a rocket.
